TL;DR
- Creators own their work forever.
- You may share or remix for non-commercial use only when the post or creator expressly says so, and you credit the Creator and DriftClips with a link back.
- If the video lives on YouTube or another platform, that platform’s license/terms rule. When in doubt, assume “no reuse” beyond normal sharing features.
- Commercial use requires written permission from the Creator (and, if a DriftClips edit is used, from DriftClips).
- DriftClips is a curator/index and is not liable for third-party content.
1) Ownership
All videos, photos, audio, and related media featured on DriftClips (“Content”) remain the exclusive property of the original creator/uploader (the “Creator”). Posting or embedding on DriftClips does not transfer ownership.
2) Scope: Most content is embedded/linked
DriftClips primarily displays embeds or links from third-party services (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, social platforms). In those cases, the host platform’s terms and license govern your use, including download, repost, remix, monetization, and API-related rules.
- Examples:
- YouTube videos are typically under the YouTube Standard License unless the uploader marked them Creative Commons.
- Platform features (e.g., “Share,” “Embed”) may be permitted, but downloading/re-hosting is often restricted.
You must review the license/terms on the host platform before using any content you discovered via DriftClips.
3) When you see a license on a DriftClips post
Some posts will include a clear “License” line (e.g., CC BY-NC 4.0). That means the Creator has explicitly authorized non-commercial sharing/remixing of that specific post, subject to attribution below. If no license appears on the post, assume the host platform’s license applies (often no reuse beyond ordinary sharing).
4) Non-commercial sharing (when permitted)
If a post explicitly allows non-commercial reuse (or the host platform’s license allows it), you may share/remix for non-commercial purposes with attribution and a link back.
Required attribution (all three when feasible):
- Creator credit (name/handle exactly as listed),
- DriftClips credit (if you used our edit/watermark or found it via our post), and
- Link to the original DriftClips URL and/or the host platform URL.
Examples:© [Creator], via DriftClips — original: https://driftclips.com/[slug] (non-commercial only)
Short caption: clips: [@creator] • via driftclips.com (non-commercial)
5) Commercial use
Any commercial use (ads, sponsorships, paid placements, broadcast, monetized compilations, paywalled apps, merchandise, NFTs, datasets for model training, etc.) requires prior written permission from the Creator and, if using a DriftClips edit/watermark, from DriftClips.

6) No download/workaround
Unless the host platform’s license expressly permits it, do not download, rip, scrape, or re-host files sourced from embeds. Do not remove watermarks or add confusingly similar marks.
7) Third-party rights
Content may include music, brand logos, numbers, venue signage, and likenesses. Those rights are not licensed by DriftClips or the Creator unless stated. You are responsible for clearing any third-party rights for your use.
8) Platform policies & API terms
Where applicable, by viewing or interacting with embedded players you also agree to the host’s terms and privacy policies (e.g., YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy). DriftClips does not control platform ads, tracking, availability, or analytics.
9) Takedowns & removals
If you believe content infringes your rights—or a Creator changes a video to private/deletes it on the host platform—the embed may stop working. Send takedown/concern notices to contact@driftclips.com with the URL and details. DriftClips may remove or disable access while reviewing.
10) No warranties; limitation of liability
DriftClips provides links/embeds “as is.” We make no warranties about accuracy, availability, or licensing, and assume no responsibility for third-party content. Your use of any content is at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, DriftClips disclaims liability for any loss or claims arising from your use, reposting, or reliance on embedded/linked content.
11) Changes
We may update this Policy to reflect platform or legal changes. Updates take effect when posted with a new date.
